With the remaining days before the inauguration, issues between President-Elect Rodrigo Duterte andVice President-Elect Leni Robredo continues to uproar. His assistant, Christopher 'Bong' Go, who is also part of his inauguration committee, confirms that Robredo is not included in the simple ceremony. “This imposition will not be fair to Leni,” he said in defense of their decision.
Following the indifferent pronouncement of Duterte that he will not be giving any Cabinet position toRobredo as to not strain his friendship with Marcos, this is another break from tradition to have the 2 highest country elected officials hold separate inaugurations.
Go added that Robredo deserves to celebrate her victory with her supporters which can only be done in a separate inauguration. But speculations has it that Duterte plans to overthrow the Vice president position through a federal-parliament form of government which he pushes even during his campaign.
Meanwhile, Duterte wants his ceremony to be “simple yet meaningful, consistent with his principles on austerity.”
