"DAVAO CITY — In spite of solid restriction from the Catholic Church, hypothetical President-choose Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday said he would push for Family Planning, saying the Church’s beliefs were no longer relevant. 

"It will benefit us. Mas maraming magawa 'yan, walang kasamaan 'yan (It will fulfill numerous things, it won't do any damage). Ako naman, I said, I am a Christian however I am a realist and we need to take care of overpopulation," Duterte told journalists. 

He said he may irritate the religious sector with his announcements yet he said their "essential convictions don't take care of the issue of our nation any longer." 

"I take the inverse perspective; I resist the conclusion or the conviction of the Congregation," he said. 

He said the sacred texts in the Book of scriptures reffered to by his faultfinders were no more applicable to society. 

"The thoughts there (were) written 2000 years back and it doesn't relate or discover significance to our general public," he said. 

"I don't give much significance to the otherworldly; walang maitutulong iyan, sa totoo lang (It won't help, to let you know reality). What you ought to stress over is the way you endure here on this planet. You don't stress over anguish after you make the way out," he included. 

Prior, Duterte said that he puts stock in God yet not inexorably in religion. 

"The best thing is just to plan and appeal to God when you are separated from everyone else and in a peaceful room," he said. 

"I have this profound and tolerating confidence in God. Be that as it may, this doesn't imply that you need to have a religion or tail some individual," he included.
